Stephen “SteevCreeper” Moreno. A seasoned graphic designer with over twenty years experience. Stephen Moreno has been an artist as long as he can remember. Born in Texas, with a love of drawing Steev never missed an opportunity to practice his skills with pencil, pen, clay; anything to express himself. His goal of working as an artist started with Texas clothing company Yaga, then moved to freelance with several local skate and surf brands. Most recently he has spent several years with Black Flys & Backward Circle Bike Co. As Art Director. As a freelance artist Steev has needed to master several creative techniques. From clean corporate logos to loose surf art. As a fine artist, when he started painting, his own style started to take shape. Steev likes to incorporate bold color on grim subjects, and try to push that dualism of light and dark, good and evil. His works consist of many cultural myths and legends, with several pieces focusing on Day of the Dead themes and imagery. Having been inspired by a Black Flys sponsored trip to Oaxaca Mexico during the Dias de los Muertos holiday. And layering, lots of layering. He has been known to repaint over half of a job, when most would consider it near completion. For this reason, his preference are acrylics, they dry fast, and He can keep working on an area until it looks right, if the direction isn’t going in the way, He’s been known to sketch over it with the brush and take a new path. Steev has been part of artshows in Japan, Mexico, Colotado & California, he’s been featured in several publications around the world, including Blue, FLJ, ROOTS, & Cyxborg Magazines (Japan). Fully Tapped Magazine (Australia). And locally in the Daily Pilot, 944, & HB Cult with his art crew Mary & the Venus Pixies.
